Barbara KaiserBarbara Kaiser, MA

Barbara Kaiser is a behavior specialist, trainer, and consultant who has worked in child care for 35 years. She was Founder and Director of the first rural daycare center in Quebec, as well as a community-based Centre in Montreal known for its multi-age group setting and strategy for empowering children to make meaningful choices for themselves. Ms. Kaiser has taught in the Faculty of Education at Concordia University in Montreal and Acadia University in Nova Scotia.  She is co-author of: Challenging Behavior in Young Children: Understanding, Preventing and Responding Effectively 2nd Edition (2007); Challenging Behavior in Elementary and Middle School: Understanding, Preventing and Responding Effectively (Allyn & Bacon, in press); and Meeting the Challenge: Effective Strategies for Challenging Behaviours in Early Childhood Environments (1999, CCCF).

Scott HirschfeldScott Hirschfeld, MS, MEd

Scott Hirschfeld is the Director of Curriculum for the Anti-Defamation League (www.adl.org), where he has developed diversity, anti-bias, and bullying prevention training and curricular resources. Previously, Mr. Hirschfeld served as a classroom teacher and staff developer for the New York City Public Schools, as well as Director of Education for the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network. Mr. Hirschfeld’s resources include: a training program on cyberbullying for educators and administrators (Trickery, Trolling and Threats: Understanding and Addressing Cyberbullying); lesson plans for K-12 educators on bullying and cyberbullying (Using Children's Literature to Address Bullying; and Cyberbullying: Understanding and Addressing Online Cruelty); and an educational campaign to address bullying in school communities(No Name-Calling Week campaign).

Roger ChristianRoger Christian, MEd

Roger Christian is Director of Camp Laurel South (www.camplaurelsouth.com) in Casco, ME.  He is also Adjunct Professor for camp management and camp counseling in the University of Florida’s College of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism.  Having motivated campers, staff, and parents with his warmth, skill, patience, and enthusiasm for over 25 years, Mr. Christian has developed innovative strategies for establishing bullying-free camp environments. He currently serves as a Standards Visitor for the American Camp Association (ACA) – visiting other camps to determine their compliance with ACA regulations.

Debra PeplerDebra Pepler, PhD
Dr. Debra Pepler is a Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology at York University and a Senior Associate Scientist at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her research focuses on aggression and victimization among children and youth with a focus on the individual and relationship processes related to these problems. Dr. Pepler is co-leading a national network, PREVNet (Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence Network), with 42 national non-government organizations and 45 Canadian research partners working together to promote safe and healthy relationships for all Canadian children and youth. Ron SlabyRon Slaby, PhD
Ron Slaby is a developmental psychologist, educator, and research scientist. Through his pioneering work at Harvard University, Education Development Center, and Children’s Hospital Boston, Dr. Slaby has helped to shape an international agenda on the prevention of youth violence and the influence of media on children and youth. Kim Storey is an educator, designer, and producer who specializes in creating innovative educational media for children, parents, and teachers. A regular consultant for education, media, and technology organizations, Dr. Storey has developed and produced children’s television programs, websites, and a variety of educational materials that have had a major impact on the lives of millions of families and professional organizations.
